Founded in December 2013, the Institute of Science and Technology Strategy, Jiangxi Academy of Sciences, is Jiangxi's first think tank-type scientific research institution that integrates research on science and technology strategy, science and technology policy consultation, and science and technology information services. The institute has 57 employees, including 19 with doctorates and 28 with master’s degree, and over 80% of which are young researchers. The institute focuses on three areas, i.e. regional innovation and S&T evaluation, industrial S&T and development strategy, and intellectual property development strategy, in which the institute provide solid support for government’s decision making. It has set up 2 national platforms, 3 platforms co-built with the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and 6 provincial platforms.
The institute is a key high-level think tank in Jiangxi Province, the deputy director unit of the China Science & Technology Think-tank Alliance, and has been selected for the China Think Tank Index CTTI. It has been elected as a council member of the International Association of Academies of Sciences. To date, the institute has undertaken more than 200 national and provincial scientific research projects, securing various project funds worth over RMB 60 million; completed more than 200 strategic analysis reports and research reports, received more than 400 important instructions from provincial leaders; holding Think Tank Summit, Lushan Dialogue and other high-end activities 24 times; published more than 100 theoretical articles in "Guangming Daily", "Internal Reference Material on Reform", and "Jiangxi Daily"; and won 43 provincial social science outstanding achievement awards.
